Full Description

Known locally as the Capital of Coquetdale, the traditional Northumbrian Village of Rothbury is offers an excellent range of shops, with many art galleries, tea rooms, cafes and pubs. It makes a very convenient base for fishing and for walking into the Northumberland National Park and Simonside, as well as offering less strenuous riverside walks.

The area is also a Golfers delight and the village has its own 18 hole golf course overlooking the Simonside Hills. The Championship course at Burgham Park is a short drive away and there are further courses in Alnwick, Alnmouth and a further Championship Course at Close House Hotel and Golf nearer to Newcastle.

Rothbury lies near the centre of rural Northumberland, 12 miles from Alnwick, 15 miles from Morpeth, 16 miles from unspoilt beaches and 29 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne.

Rothbury serves as a hub for the outlying Villages and as such has a good choice of places to eat and drink. You might be surprised to hear that in such a small place not only are there a number of pubs and cafes, but there is also an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway and chip shop! The numerous cafes are extremely popular with families, the walkers and cyclists.

Rothbury has an award-winning selection of local, independent shops in which you can buy practically anything from meat to shoes and wine.

Stay with us and you will be able to choose from,

Cairn Rigg which is an attractive, detached stone built cottage and situated on a quiet country lane on the edge of Rothbury. The cottage is a 10 minute walk uphill from the town centre and with the heather-clad moorland literally on the doorstep it provides an ideal base for all types of country lovers.

Ethie Lodge is an attractive, first floor apartment that is part of a small, late Victorian terrace that was built by Lord Armstrong of Cragside. It is situated in a conservation area in the heart of Rothbury near to all the village amenities and just a stone’s throw away from the River Coquet.

Dragonfly Cottage is a two storey, two bedroom stone built cottage right in the centre of Rothbury. The property has its own patio and dedicated parking.

All three properties are tastefully decorated and furnished and have two bedrooms, sleeping between 2 and 4 guests and all have a child cot available.

Properties have a bathroom with wc, bath and shower, a fully equipped kitchen, living/dining area and either a private garden with patio area or just a patio area.  Parking is available either next to the property or a short distance away.

We are sorry but we are unable to accept pets at any of our properties and guests are asked not to smoke indoors.
