Full Description

The old train station is one of England’s most romantic secrets in a charming, peaceful, rural setting where you can unwind in comfort, surrounded by beautiful woodland. We are situated in the picturesque surroundings of the Ironbridge Gorge (UNESCO World Heritage Site) overlooking the River Severn at Coalport and located on the Severn Valley Way. The gorge still has part of the ancient forests that once covered the whole of England.

You can enjoy nature on your doorstep. The grounds are bustling with wildlife and our purpose built walk showcases wild woodland flora and fungi throughout the seasons.

For a change of pace, explore the local countryside on foot or by bike by taking the Mercian way (Cycle route 45), towards Ironbridge or Bridgnorth, and the Silkin Way (Cycle route 55) to Ironbridge or Telford. Nearby there are walks along Wenlock Edge or The Long Mynd and Church Stretton , not forgetting the views from the top of The Wrekin.

We have great local attractions too with ten local Ironbridge Gorge museums and the RAF Cosford museum to choose from. There are the picturesque local market towns of Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. The latter has a Low and High Town with a Funicular Cliff Railway running between them and the start of the Severn Valley Railway. Further afield there is plenty to do in the county towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

Our local English Heritage and National Trust sites include The Iron Bridge, Buildwas Abbey, Wenlock Abbey and Wroxeter Roman City. Stately homes and gardens open to the public include Weston Park, Benthal Hall, Attingham Park, Dudmaston Estate and Sunnycroft. The keen gardener is also spoilt for choice with David Austin Roses, The Dorothy Clive Gardens and the Dower House Garden open as part of the national garden scheme.

The luxuriously equipped carriages have been awarded 4+ star accreditation and feel genuinely spacious while boasting the ultimate in modern conveniences.
Facilities include a lounge/dining/kitchen with fridge / freezers, dishwashers, washer-dryers, flat screen TV, DVD and air conditioning in the larger rooms.

Carriage 1: one en-suite whirlpool bathroom, two further twin cabins and a shower room – sleeps 6.
Carriage 2: two en-suites with whirlpool bathrooms and walk-in-showers – sleeps 4.

Outdoor areas:
There are extensive wooded grounds of 4 acres with a woodland walk, a lawned garden area to the front, a full set of garden furniture and a BBQ with tools.
We offer weekly stay of 7 nights commencing on a Friday or Monday, weekend stays of 2 – 3 nights, or 4 nights during the week from Monday to Thursday inclusive.

The Station is just a one minute walk from the Woodbridge Inn
where quality food and traditional ales are served. Whatever the weather, Coalport Station offers a relaxing time for all.
