The cottage sitting room is overlooking the enclosed garden lawn and mature border of plants, shrubs, bushes and small trees is perfect for relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing. The country cottage style kitchen diner overlooks the garden and borders as do the 2 double size light and airy bedrooms. In the garden you can cook at the barbecue and dine seated at the bench table. Parking is free on a nearby road approximately a 4 minute walk away, however the convenient location of the cottage makes up for this.

Shanklin has so much to offer in all weathers. Shanklin Old Village is packed with thatched cottages some housing unique gift shops, tea rooms and village inns. Shanklin esplanade is within walking distance and is lined with cafes, hotels, restaurants, pubs and traditional seaside games and amusements. Shanklin offers a mix of seaside and open parks and gardens around the town. Rhylstone Garden close by provides a tranquil and pretty place to sit and enjoy the sunshine and houses a Bandstand, which hosts an extensive programme of open air concerts.

Shanklin beach is a seaside resort with long wide sandy beaches set against a backdrop of cliffs. The cliff paths provide stunning views of the coastline.
You can relax and unwind on the sands, hire a traditional beach hut, and try out the water sports on offer.

The historical Shanklin Chine is within a short walk from the cottage and is famous for its gorge with rare plants and waterfall, the end of the Chine leads directly to the beach and local pub restaurants. The chine is loved by poets, writers and artists.

If eating out you are spoilt for choice as there are a range of cafes, restaurants and pubs spread across the resort, some with summer evening entertainment.

Shanklin Theatre at Prospect Road is open all year round and provides a programme of events ranging from musicals, plays, comedy and ballet. The annual Carnivals and Shanklin Regatta are spectacular and buzzing with activity and excitement.

Shanklin esplanade leads on to Sandown seafront which has a range of attractions and activities for all ages. The sandy beaches at Sandown also offer relaxing walks, water sports, deckchairs, nearby ice cream parlours, cafes, restaurants, bars, and an amusement pier Dinosaur museum and Zoo.

The Shanklin Tourist Information Point is located at Vernon Cottage Tearooms and Giftshop close to the cottage, providing a range of brochures, leaflets, maps and information on the IOW.

Buses, trains, car parking and enjoyable walking and cycling routes can be found around Shanklin.

• Enclosed garden set to lawn, with trees and shrub borders, garden
bench table, barbecue.
• Train station and bus station located within Shanklin town. Bus stops
nearby to the cottage location.

• Regret unable to fit stairgate due to the layout at the top of
the stairwell, therefore visitors are responsible for the safety of
their young children on the stairway.

• Gas, electric and water provided without charge during summer season.

Guest Access –
The cottage is exclusively for your use throughout your vacation. Guests are provided with details on how to access the cottage via the secure external key box located next to the main door, prior to their arrival. The owner can meet you on arrival if visitors wish.

Shanklin became popular within the Edwardian and Victorian era especially when Queen Victoria and her husband Albert decided to make the IOW their seaside home and built Osborne House located at East Cowes, IOW which is well worth a days visit.
